Recreational Baseball Division Lynden Youth Sports organizes and facilitates a recreational baseball program for boys in grades 3-8, and girls & boys (co-ed) for 2nd graders. Children from 2nd grade and boys from grades 3-8 who attend school or live in the Lynden School District are able to register themselves to play recreational baseball for approximately 6 weeks in the fall.

The baseball coordinator and committee will place the players that register into different teams based on their grade and gender. The teams will be made up of players that go to different schools. Each team is allocated with a coach and assistant coach, who will organize one practice session per week for his/her team. The practice sessions usually begin 2 weeks before the season starts and every week during the 6-week competition. There are two games played every week, one during the week and one on Saturday. All games are played at Bender Fields.

Select Baseball Division Lynden Youth Sports organizes and facilitates a select baseball programs for boys ages 9 thru 12. Players must attend tryouts for the select baseball division. Tryout dates are posted in the Lynden Tribune and on the LYS website. There will be 2 select age groups providing there is enough interest in both age groups. The age groups will be 9 & 10 year olds playing together and 11 & 12 year olds playing together. An independent panel chosen by Lynden Youth Sports will select the children for each age group. Boys who are not chosen to participate in the select league are automatically placed on a recreational team. Select division may have games in both Whatcom county and Skagit County.

How to get involved:                                                           

As a Player:
Click on the application tab and print off an application form and mail it into LYS (see the form for postal address) – and we will place you on a team and allocate a coach to your team. Be sure to get your application in by the cut-off date as there are no guarantees we can still play you on a team after this deadline. Towards the end of March your coach will phone you – to let you know when your first practice is.

As a Coach:
We are always looking for volunteer coaches (or assistants) for all grade groups. Please click on the application tab and fill out the appropriate part for coaches and mail it in.
