Lynden Youth Sports - Soccer
Lynden Youth Sports organizes and
facilitates a recreational soccer program for grades 1-10. Children from grades
1-10 who attend school or live in the Lynden School District are able to register
themselves to play soccer for 8 weeks in the fall.
The soccer coordinators will place the players that register into different teams
based on their age/grade and gender. The teams will be made up of players that go
to different schools. Each team is allocated with a coach, who will organise one
practice session per week for his/her team.
The practice sessions usually begin 2 weeks before the season starts and every week
during the 8-week competition. All games are played on Saturdays – at Bender Fields.
The season for 2011 runs from September
3rd – October 22nd.
How to get involved:
As a Player:
Click on the application tab and print
off an application form and mail it into LYS (see the form for postal address) –
and we will place you on a team and allocate a coach to your team. Be sure to get
your application in by the cut-off date as there are no guarantees we can still
play you on a team after this deadline. Towards the end of August your coach will
phone you – to let you know when your first practice is.
As a Coach:
We are always looking for volunteer coaches (or assistants) for all grade groups.
Please click on the application tab and fill out the appropriate part for coaches
and mail it in. For further questions do not hesitate to call – to speak to the
soccer coordinator: (360) 354-0597. Senior project students are welcome to apply.
As a Referee:
if you are interested in a paid referee position call the LYS number or email: info@lyndenyouthsports.com
As a General Volunteer:
We are always happy to have help on picture day – or typing/word processing work,
or other small jobs that may need doing. Please call us at (360) 354-0597 to register
your help.
